Sunrise in Trinity Basin

San Juan Mountains, Colorado

One of the most rewarding views ever...

Standing on a ridge overlooking the incredible Trinity Basin in the Grenadier Range was by far one of the most exhilarating experiences in my life…

Just getting to the basin was a bit of a challenge. It was hailing like crazy and the faint use trail I was following was far behind me. I ended up clamoring directly up the creek drainage right in the middle of the basin, finally reaching the large lake (Trinity Lake) to set up camp.

Tired as I was, I knew my goal was to capture the sunrise from the high point on the ridge between Peak Three and East Trinity. I had seen a similar shot from another photographer online (Jack Brauer maybe?) and wanted to find the location. So, getting up at 3:30 AM, I barely made it in time. Read the full story in my Trinity Basin Trip Report.

Oh, and if you look at the left shore of Trinity Lake, you can just make out my tent. Definitely one of the most rewarding views ever!
