A break in the gloom...

It had been pretty gloomy for a number of evenings, lots of fog rolling in at night. I don’t remember exactly where I was or why, but I I saw this break in the clouds and was just close enough to the beach to race down just as the sun was setting. I made it this far (dunes by the parking lot at Grand Ave in Pismo), threw my tripod down, clicked in the camera, and got this shot. Had I tried to make it to the water, I would have missed it all.

And as it turns out, I really enjoy this shot with the ice plant and sand. Just the right break in the gloom.
