East Vidette Sunrise
Sierra Nevada, California

Best Halloween ever...
It was almost November. I’d never backpacked into the high Sierra this late in the season. I had just a couple days, so I hightailed it over to the east side of the Sierra Nevada with a specific off-trail spot in mind to try to capture a bit of a different angle of East Vidette. Finally found the spot I was looking for, but the weather report changed, and a massive snowstorm was coming in earlier than expected—the very next day.
So I had one night to capture what I hoped would be a beautiful sunset over East Vidette, and prayed the Lord would light up the sky.
He didn’t.
Discouraged, I went to bed, asking Him to gift me a decent sunrise.
He did.
Best halloween ever.
