Pingora Peak and Lonesome Lake

Years ago I read a book by Louis L’Amour called “High Lonesome.” Even though it was set in the desert, my soul kind of adopted the phrase to mean the way up lonely places in the mountains I’d explore. And they became, for me, the greatest sanctuaries on earth.

Along with Cathedral Lakes Peak, I believe this is one of the best moments for me experiencing the High Lonesome sanctuaries in God’s creation. To me, these are the best sanctuaries on earth—this is where I experience the heart of God the most.
