The twenty year wait...

When I was much younger, I was on my way down from climbing Freemont Peak in Wyoming’s Wind River Range. I chose a poor route down instead of retracing my steps. It was quite cold, with rain and hail pelting me as I headed down a series of ledges into Titcomb Basin. But I’m so glad I did, because I was in awe of the view above the basin. And I promised myself I’d be back someday.

Twenty years later, motivated by an online photo of the area (I can’t find the photo anymore), I finally got my chance. The motivating photo was a beautiful reflection at the upper lake in the basin, and I vowed to try to capture the same feel, as it was so moving to me.

Needless to say, this is one of my most cherished personal favorites—the result of the twenty-year wait.
